Just got home from seeing that movie everyone is creaming about (it was good, not life changing, Heath was amazing but it all felt kind of muddled), and got online to check when the movie I really wanted to see (Transsiberian) is playing this week, and discovered it only got released in 2 US theaters, both in NYC. - Funfetti, in regards to that drawing I posted a few things down. Whatevz Jessie. Typical dramatic logic of taking something to the extreme. Gun owners = nuclear weapon owning murderers. Yeah right.

Also: The drawing really is confusing. What is it supporting exactly? It seems to be saying that in Socialism, the government/private business (red guy) takes your money by force… which is bad. And in Capitalism, the government/business already has your money but still tries to kill you… which is also bad. Or is it saying in Socialism the poor can get rich (red taking blue’s money) and in Capitalism the rich stay rich (red already having blue’s money)? That doesn’t make sense, because the poor don’t get rich through Socialism. I just don’t see any argument for Socialism as a good thing here in this drawing, which is what I assume its going for.

So who’s this drawing preaching to? What is it supposed to be teaching me? Please explain Funfetti the enlightened one! You’re so much smarter than the rest of us!

Comedy Central’s TV Funhouse finally comes out on DVD on July 22nd! This show was amazing, ahead of its time, and sadly short lived. I’ve been wondering for years when this was going to come out on DVD. I am ordering this right away!

Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer

It’s a super low-budget indie that got acquired by Anchor Bay after playing at Slamdance. It looks really great. Like a fun classic 80’s Evil Dead style monster flick. I’ll try to catch it the one weekend it plays in LA.

This was our more “legit” entry to last night’s Movie Night. Spencer and I thought it up and Ryan helped us shoot it. We lit a greenscreen in our garage. It was actually my first time really doing chroma key’ing in FCP, and I think I did an OK job.

The Shitty Goonies

This was one of our 2 entries to this week’s Movie Night. On Saturday night Spencer, Ryan and I decided to try to shoot as many scenes from Goonies as we could think of off the top of our heads without any real planning or production value, playing all the characters. We forgot some major scenes, but it turned out kind of funny. We joked about in the future trying to shoot the rest of the movie in this style and eventually releasing a feature length version of The Shitty Goonies.

I know everyone is creaming their jeans over The Dark Knight hitting theaters this Friday, and I’m looking forward to seeing it, but I’d actually rather someone come with me to see Brad Anderson’s new thriller Transsiberian. Unlike The Dark Knight, this thing won’t make any money and won’t be in theaters long, but Brad Anderson is one of my favorite filmmakers and I think this movie looks interesting. Any takers?
